Session 6: Impact-focused event strategies in the age of sustainability

Looking far beyond bed-nights and delegate spend to the broader societal impact of association meetings, this session will showcase some inspiring case studies, outline the new evaluation and impact-metric models have only recently been developed, and explain how to enhance the link between association meetings and the UN’s SDGs.  As we enter a critical decade in the race to achieve a sustainable future, associations and their purpose-refocused meetings will play an increasingly important role in creating the new knowledge that is essential to achieve these goals.

    Geneviève has over 25 years of global experience in congress management and consultancy for associations. She works as a content curator, facilitator, speaker and trainer with the association meetings industry and is specialized in sustainability and social impact practices. She is also the Managing Director of the International Society of Limnology.

    Geneviève is passionate about applying design thinking practices to accompany organizations through innovation. She has founded her current organization, #Meet4Impact, in 2019 and her work focuses on achieving greater social impact for large events. She has developed an “impact masterclass” for the industry and has co-created a framework that empowers organizations and offers a systematic process for creating and measuring the positive impacts of conferences. When not at work, Geneviève is enjoying the great outdoors or sailing the seas.

    A specialized journalist in the association management field, Remi has been working for about 15 years in the meetings industry. In 2017, together with Cecile Koch, he launched Boardroom, which has become the global reference point for the world of associations. It also gives voice to destinations, venues, industry organisations, etc. who can help and partner with these associations.
